Description
Pure delight - very deep, crisp carving with wonderfully dissonant elements. A fat cheeked woman dressed fit to kill while churning butter! At first blush she seems to have chosen the shade of an apple tree for her homely task, but the ribbed fruit is suggestive of a chestnut or medlar tree, a favored medieval fruit.
